CIC in FingerCompletely-In-the-Canal Instruments (CIC)
The newest, smallest hearing aids, these are custom-made
to fit deeply inside your ear canal so that they are practically invisible. The CIC is the smallest type available and it is almost invisible in the ear. All components are housed in a small shell that fits far into the ear canal. The CIC style
uses a very small battery, which requires good manual dexterity. This type of hearing aid is not suitable for people with severe hearing losses.

  • Mild to moderately severe hearing loss
  • Very small, one piece
  • All components contained in a custom fit, plastic shell
  • Fits inside the ear canal
  • Barely visible

ITC In-the-Canal Instruments (ITC)
A little bigger than the CIC, the ITC style also fits far into
the ear canal. Canal hearing aids use a slightly larger
battery than the CIC. This style is used for mild to
moderate hearing losses. These are also custom-made
and small enough to fit almost entirely in your ear canal.
They can be hardly noticeable.

  • Mild to moderately - severe hearing loss
  • Small, one piece
  • All components contained in a custom fit, plastic shell
  • Fits mostly inside the ear canal
  • Slightly visible in the ear

ITE In-the-Ear Instruments (ITE)
ITE hearing aids can be used for a wider range of hearing losses. Due to their larger size, ITEs can accommodate
larger sound amplifiers and more features (such as a telephone switch). They are also easier to handle for
many people. NU-EAR ITE instruments are available with directionality (to enhance speech intelligibility in noise)
or volume control.

  • Mild to severe hearing loss
  • Larger, one piece
  • All components contained in a custom fit, plastic shell
  • Fills the entire bowl of the ear
  • Visible in the ear

BTEBehind-the-Ear Instruments (BTE)
These aids fit snugly behind the ear and are attached to a custom earpiece molded to the shape of your outer ear. Behind-the-ear instruments have a plastic housing for the components which rests behind the ear. A clear plastic tube funnels amplified sound into an ear mold in the ear canal.
This model can be every bit as sophisticated as smaller hearing aids. In fact, it can hold more circuitry and amplify sounds to a greater degree than in-the-ear types.
Behind-the-ear instruments are generally more durable
than other types and a few are even waterproof.

  • Mild to profound hearing loss
  • Larger two - piece hearing aid
  • All components contained in a case that is worn behind the ear
  • A hard plastic case is worn behind the ear, and a custom fit earmold extends into the ear
  • Slightly visible depending on hair style, case and earmold color
  • Available in several hair and skin-tone colors - beige to brown and light grey.
    BTE instruments offer many advantages
  • Longer Battery Life
  • Power for Severe Losses
  • Tamper-resistant battery drawer
  • Longer Product Life
  • Directional Microphones
